EXPLORACIÓN_ELECTRÓNICA brings together a series of audiovisual works created by ex students of the Electronic Art and Digital Design degree and the International Masters in Interactive Systems, as well as ESDi tutors and the artist-teacher Mireia Feliu Fabra. The pieces have been selected for their high quality, both in a formal and conceptual sense, and for the wide variety of themes they address.

Temps Verticals
Interactive audiovisual installation, 2004
Temps Verticals uses the Castellers (human castles) as its central theme to explore the simultaneous nature of how people experience internal and external time. Five monitors, accessed via a corridor-type structure, are stacked vertically (emulating a Casteller formation) and offer images of the different members of the Castell. Those forming the base of the structure are shown on the lower monitors and so forth, moving upwards to the top monitor where we see a general overview of the situation. On entering the visitor hears the sound of laughter and general uproar, the usual sounds that accompany this activity. However, as the visitor approaches the screens, a sensor detects their proximity and triggers a much more intimate soundtrack which enables the visitor to hear the individual sounds made by the different members of the formation. The word “vertical” in the title also refers to the simultaneous perspective offered by the different temporal experiences from the base to the top of the Castell, crossing all levels of construction, including those of the spectator.
Air Roots
Digital video, 2006
Air Roots is a reflection about the absence of “firm roots”, based on the author’s experience of constantly moving. The piece is designed to be developed over a long period of time; here its development up to 2006 is shown.
Identity
Digital video, 2005
The sentence “I will be…” is written repeatedly on a whiteboard. The artist searches for the perfect word to complete the sentence and consequently her own identity. The video begins to move increasingly faster but the search is endless as identity necessarily entails change and it is therefore impossible to establish a single, closed or fixed definition.

Magnimesis
Audiovisual installation, 2006
This project focuses on the problematic question of conserving digital art works that have been developed using technologies that are no longer available on the market. Nowadays, due to modern industrial standards, this kind of equipment becomes obsolete almost immediately and is substituted by other similar but more advanced technologies. Therefore, in terms of conserving these works, the following question arises: “What do you do when the equipment no longer works?”

Burbujómetro
Interactive audiovisual installation, 2007
This interactive piece shows us property prices in different cities across Spain. Bubbles are projected in real time showing the increase in the price of apartments in all Spanish provinces. In order to view the prices the user must physically interact with the installation by shooting the bubbles with a gun. This work offers a reflection based on the contemporary socio-economic dynamics involved in the serious problem of housing currently prevalent in Spain and the rest of the world.

Noseporquemeacuerdo
Interactive video, 2005
Noseporquemeacuerdo is based on a simple premise: someone gets up from the table in a bar and lets their chair fall to the floor. From here the spectator is offered the possibility of selecting a story to explain the situation depicted. An account is given in voice off and from there the user must select the stories they wish to hear. This work explores the multiplicity of perspectives and people’s imagination and demonstrates the impossibility of a single and indisputable reality.
