JESSICA FARRAN/PAULA PERISSINOTTO: Your most recent work is issued in two complementary formats: linear video and interactive pieces. How would you define the interrelation between the two languages, linear and interactive? IVÁN MARINO: Linearity and interaction are words that have, at the very least, a double sense within the area of audio-visual production. The terms can be defined in relation to the particular media or the language the work uses to articulate its discourse. From the perspective of the medium, non-linear pieces are defined as those works that allow a non-linear reading or navigation of its contents, generally by way of an interactive interface, such as the remote control of a DVD, a computer mouse, etc. |
